What an outstanding run of shows. It is clear that by mid 1980 the band had clicked and was creative, energized and engaged. There is an intensity througout
...
this show that is very special, and yet not particularly unique from the nights before. If you want to hear a dime get turned on, listen to the transition from Truckin' to Stella Blue, it's like walking off a cliff.

Alabama, High Time, Ramble, Saint and Stella are highly recommendable.
May '80 had power. Comes A Time and China Cat from 5/10, Fire from 5/11, Lazy Lightning ... and Althea from 5/15, Stranger and Brokedown from 5/16 are other good examples.

Sometimes an AUD recording picks up too much crowd noise at the expense of the music. Sometimes the mikes pick up the BAND perfectly. This is that exactly
...
and with the transfer in the capable hands of Charlie Miller and the pitch mastery of Joe B. Jones, this Jim Wise recording is brought to you in kickass high fidelity sound just as it occurred in Glenn Falls, NY.
As far as the show goes it used to fly below the radar but looking at all the reviews of the other copies here at the Archive it's clear that this show is getting recognized for its superb playing. The first set is a winner with great renditions of Lazy Lightnin' -> Supplication, Ramble On Rose, Lost Sailor -> Saint Of Circumstance to close the set. A brilliant second set follows opening with a nicely done Uncle John's Band and by the time the band is in Estimated Prophet the power begins to unfold straight into a lively Eyes Of The World. Post-drums feature a mighty Truckin' and a sweet Stella Blue and some rockers to close it.
Great show, great recording and mastering...listen to this beauty!
I can't help but give this version five skulls.
